 In the US, Memorial Day brings the start of summer.  This is a big event for us northern climate people!  After a long winter, we cannot wait for the warm, summer weather to shine upon us.  It is a time to get outside and enjoy nature and those we love.

The image above is of a 'sommerhus', or Swedish Summer house designed in a 'New England' style.  Being a New England girl I never think of other countries wanting to copy our style.  But apparently they do!  This pretty little place would be ideal for a Memorial Day getaway don't you think?

I am always struck by the beauty and contrast of black and white interiors.  Add a pop of green from a bunch of fresh cut hydrangeas and the natural wood from the Danish Modern chair, and the balance is perfection.

A large and stately Swedish Gustavian chest of drawers from the mid 19th century, this highly details chest boasts four drawers surmounted with a dentil molding top and flanked with inset reeded quarter columns.
