Laura Casey Interiors

The blogging world is an inspirational community that not only distributes useful information, but can create friendships and relationships across the country and around the world.  One such relationship that I have been lucky enough to gain is with Laura Casey of Laura Casey Interiors in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Laura is a smart and talented interior designer and woman who has become a friend.  Through sharing an appreciation for beautiful design and a personal connection (strange as it may sound) to a university, Laura and I have developed a wonderful bond that would not have been possible without the blogging world.

Today I would like to introduce (to those of you that might not have met her yet) Laura and an installment from her blog.  This particular post is very specific to my professional world but Laura's broad talent is demonstrated in her blog and in her design work.  Please take a few minutes to stop by Laura Casey Interiors and mark it as a favorite so that you can go back again and again.

SIMPLY SWEDISH

by LAURA on NOVEMBER 17, 2009
Swedish style is comfortable, pretty and not too fussy. Almost like that accidentally beautiful English style I love. This all seems like it has been distressed through great use, and I love a very light room.

A Home with a Soft & Sensual Caress

The soft and sensual caress of this alluring home in Skåne envelopes the homeowners in graceful, humble luxury and the natural experience of living among captivating pieces of history.

The dining room contains a large table with its base made from an old iron plantation desk.  The 18th century candelabra is from England and the armoire, with its classic reed carved doors, is from Sweden.

A bedroom, graced with late a 19th century gilt mirror and wardrobe, is warmed by the fire from a classic Swedish “kakelugn” tile stove.

Swedish Baroque style refractory table from the latter half of the 1800’s, along with Rococo style chairs with pink toile upholstery, beautifully contribute to the soft and alluring design.

The T.V. room design balances the practicality of upholstered chairs from IKEA with treasured antique furniture and decorative arts.

The 19th century work table in the kitchen is from Jämtland, Sweden.  The family bakes and cooks and spends time together in the kitchen, but eating is done in the dining room.

Showing no fear about living a real life with antiques, the daughter’s bedroom contains a lovely example of an antique Swedish side table.

Contemporary art, along with traditional furnishings such as this Rococo arm chair and group of well worn antique bathhouse tables, continue the theme of balanced living among captivating pieces of history.

Living Beautifully....

Living beautifully with Swedish Antiques…..

x
doesn’t need to be fussy or impractical……

 x
It doesn’t need to be singular or completely period…..

x
It just needs to whisper of a time gone by….

x

x
Of a period when beauty was represented by quality, warmth and an appreciation for history.
