See you next week! So…I have been married for 21 years and have a truly wonderful husband. I have learned that while his gift giving intentions are always very good, my exacting expectations can sometimes be a bit of a challenge when it comes to finding just the right thing.

We have determined, through trial and error, that sometimes it is just better to tell each other what we would like for our birthday instead of hoping the other will mysteriously guess.

This year when he asked me what I wanted for my birthday in June, I told him that I really wanted a new summer handbag. I had an idea about the style I wanted but I didn’t know the exact one….I would know it when I saw it I proclaimed. My husband decided not to guess and left it up to me. Unromantic you might say…oh you must have forgotten…I said 21 years of marriage.
I knew that I wanted something along the idea of a hobo style but with a bit of structure.

The color I preferred was bone or off-white which is a purse color that I have never had before. If it had something cool or special about it while not being overly adorned that would be a big plus.

It couldn’t be toooooo heavy on its own because I didn’t want aching arms once it was filled with all of my stuff. I am a bit price sensitive which added to the challenge…err…fun of finding just the right thing.

Well, it has taken over two months to find but earlier this week I hit the jackpot. While on a shopping excursion with my oldest daughter we went into Cole Haan. They have a beautifully renovated store in our area and were having a 50% off

Leave it up to the teenager who sent a text to her dad at a Red Sox game to tell him that since they were 50% off that I should get two. Maybe it was the beer talking but he said “SURE” (I really don’t think he meant it!).

It is just the right size…not too big and not too small.
It has some cool details such as the braided handles and metal stirrup embellishments.
The inside has a great pocket for my cell phone, zippered pockets and dividers.
When I sent a text to my husband after I made the big purchase he said “Happy Birthday”. I am so excited about my new handbag and I must say it was definitely worth the wait!
Contrast…Juxtapositon…Perfection

Contrast: The difference in visual properties that makes an object distinguishable from other objects and the background.

Similar chairs can be found here
Juxtaposition: Placing two ideas (words, images or objects) side by side so that their closeness creates a new, often ironic, meaning.

Perfection: The quality or state of being perfect or complete, so that nothing requisite is wanting, i.e. the marriage of antiques and contemporary design.

The ‘sommarhus’, or 'summer house' in English, is a centuries long Swedish tradition.

Seeking refuge from the heat, dirt and smells of the city, many of society's wealthy would retreat to summer homes in the country, on the coast, the archipelago, or one of the many lakes.

This tradition continues today and it is a luxury no longer reserved exclusively for the extremely well heeled.

The sommarhus is a cherished tradition that encourages families and friends to gather together to celebrate and enjoy the few brief months of sun and warmth.

While all of the sommarhuses pictured here are beautiful in their own way, which one speaks to you? Which one would you like to spend a few days or weeks of rest and relaxation at?
It could be a hard decision.
